Our History:

Brian and Kim Zimmerman had a calling to move outside the four walls of a church building, and take prayer, worship and serving to the street. They have served in the city of Lancaster for over 20 years in church leadership from worship director to elder. In 2007, along with mentors and advisors, confirmed by local leaders, City Gate Lancaster was formed. In 2008 we became an official 501c3 religious organization. Today we have three locations: City Gate Lancaster, City Gate Ephrata and City Gate Columbia.

At the heart of our ministry, our PURPOSE: Why we are who we are is we believe in the power of prayer and that our City, County and Region can be transformed and healed, set free and empowered through prayer. We exist to release the Kingdom of God through prayer, worship, equipping people and serving the communities we are called. We connect with people day by day to see lives transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

While serving in the place of prayer, we saw the hungry and the hurting coming into the prayer room. We asked if we had lunch for them, would it help them. Yes - was the resounding answer. So we began in 2008 to serve a quality free lunch, inviting people into the prayer room, to rest, soak and eat. We began to establish relationship and have so many testimonies of people being healed of cancer, finding jobs, getting homes, and most importantly meeting Jesus.

Our VALUES are based in Matthew 5, to be a people of hope, a people of small obedience, to be a people who are raw, real and focused on Jesus, to be transparent, to embrace accountability, to live with integrity and to minister to people in radical love.

Our VISION - what the Lord wants us to accomplish is to be a ministry that serves and connects with people on a day to day basis by discipleship, teaching/bible studies, prayer & worship, free lunches and free coffee. City Gate Lancaster and City Gate Ephrata, The Prayer Room, The Prayer Café, City Grounds Coffee believe that community and relationship are the foundation for growth, unity, and change. We desire to build lasting relationship that go deep into Lancaster County, Ephrata Boro, The Region and this Country to intentionally represent Jesus and His Gospel and to engage individuals and organizations to  live the gospel out loud.

How do we accomplish the vision and fulfill the purpose - the MISSION? We believe that the mission that God sent in His word is clear. To GO and make disciples, teach the gospel and heal the sick. We believe in the Word to stop for the 1, the least of these and share what we have.

We at City Gate will fulfill our mission by living out our values.
