Mission

A 424 Mandate prayer meeting is about gathering of the body of Christ in a locality, regardless of denomination or culture that call upon the name of the Lord.

A spontaneous unity because we love God.

Our focus is and should be to glorify God.

What is done in such meetings?

Follow the pattern of the first prayer of revival ever in the New Testament that Jesus Himself commanded his disciples to do.

In the Bible the church was birthed in Acts chapter 2 on the day of Pentecost. It is the beginning of all revivals. It was the much anticipated and even prophesied many centuries before Christ. The account of Peter’s sermon is Acts 2 itself lays out several prophesies from Old Testament.

If we carefully examine in that passage, the Master asked those frail disciples to do something. That was to tarry or wait until they be invested or clothed with promise of the Holy Spirit as Jesus advised them to do before His ascension.

424 prayer meetings are not supposed to be a one time deal or an event.

It is a continuous expectation with great anticipation on the promise of the our heavenly Father for revival. If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? Luke 11:13.

Since the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit is among the believers on earth today. But where is the work and power of the Holy Spirit to be seen today? It could either be that the Holy Spirit ran out of energy or resources like some of us do. Or the problem is with us. If you still believe the God of the Bible, you know that the first statement is not true. The problem seems to be us and our theology and not the Holy Spirit.

 Principles

Four principles of 424 prayer modeled according to the prayer for revival in New testament. Acts 4:24

  1. Constantly diligent-The word “proskartereo” is the greek word used, which means they were earnest towards and devoted with steadfastness and perseverance. Do prayer meeting in our congregations this way? Why point finger at them? How long since we personally prayed with such diligence for revival and God’s promises.
  2. Unanimously (with singleness of mind)-The disciples including the mother of Jesus, Mary was in this upper room prayer meeting. That shows oneness and unity. One can be in a prayer meeting and still not be united in purpose with fellow Christians to see revival. That was not the case in that prayer meeting. But at least it is good start to gather to pray like they did as much as possible in our community or neighborhood.
  3. Worshipful heart- They had a worshipful heart in prayer. If we honestly make an inventory of our own prayer lives, not taking into account the prayer in our congregations, more than 80% of it is all about us and our needs that need to be met. Unless we know who God is, an individual is unable to worship Him. A worshipful prayer is when our prayers are about God and his desires than ours. Spanning from our personal lives to our nations and societies He taught us to pray His Kingdom come and His will be done (Matt 6:10).
  4. Supplication-asking the Lord in prayer-Prayer is the most neglected thing in congregations today. We all would agree that this is not at all an under statement. Honestly, praying is hardwork. It is sometimes laborious. Satan trembles seeing a man praying. He can still get his way, if we accomplish a lot of christian activities, give to charity, preach colorful sermons etc. Even if we manage to set apart some time to pray, to get praying can be cumbersome.

424 Mandate prayer meeting is not about giving seminars or lectures or pounding with information about prayer and doing the actual praying for five minutes. Rather joining like minded Christians to do the Praying than talking about it.

Simply follow the instruction that Lord gave us, .. how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ASK him? Do not forget to do the ASKING(or prayer) for revival.
